Logan was born with a rare medical condition called congenital analgia, which is better known as congenital pain insensitivity. Patients suffering this condition cannot feel (and have never felt) physical pain, even though cognition and sensation are otherwise normal. Due to this condition, many who confront Logan end up surprised that he is able to withstand a brutal amount of punishment without so much as a flinch. Although mental retardation is known to occur in some cases of congenital analgia, Logan appears to be among the few lucky ones spared from the affliction. He still seems to have this condition even after being sired.

Prior to his Siring, Logan had also been suffering from an incurable malignant tumour in his brain which was slowly killing him. But because of his inability to feel physical pain, he did not experience the migraines normally suffered by brain cancer patients. He had however blacked out and experienced nosebleeds on ocassion, more frequently so as the terminal disease worsened over time. But ever since being sired, the tumour seems to have been purged from his system, the vampiric blood apparently having healed him of this condition.

There is the question of why the blood had not cured him from his congenital analgia though, perhaps the blood simply could not heal a genetic flaw that had existed since birth?

As a result of all his afflictions, Logan has no real fear, for he knows not pain, and if one cannot feel the pain of death what is there left to fear?

Logan’s appearance varies from time to time, or more appropriately, from scam to scam. But his normal appearance would be that of a 6′ brown haired man with an athletic build, usually dressed in simple dark-colored button-down shirts or T-shirts and jeans. It isn’t uncommon for him to sport a stubble as well.

As a contract thief and con artist, Logan prefers to keep a low profile. As such, he has several aliases, each working as different fronts for the different jobs that Logan is hired for. These multiple identities also help Logan spread the gains of his high-earning heists so that no one would suspect the large transactions credited into one single account, namely his own. These aliases each have their own identities (usually with the aid of make-up prosthetics to change his appearance drastically) and documentations. These aliases include:

James Vanderbilt
An antiquities dealer based in Los Angeles. Most transactions involving antiquities and rare collectibles are often done through this alias. When in this alias, Logan appears as a large nosed, moustached middle-aged man with gun-metal gray hair, and speaks with a Southern accent. Vanderbilt’s attire is eclectic to say the least, usually wearing floral shirts and slacks, with flip flops. Vanderbilt is the front for Logan’s antiquities dealings, and whenever someone has a job that involves the heist of rare antiquities, Vanderbilt is the point of contact, whether by phone or a face-to-face meeting.

Logan fabricates a relationship between Vanderbilt and himself as that of an employer-employee relationship, with Vanderbilt paying Logan for services rendered on certain jobs, and this reflects in their bank statements/transactions.

Michael Sanbourne
Michael Sanbourne is a “self-made entrepreneur”, with businesses dealing in investments in commodities, futures, and foreign exchange. But Sanbourne also deals in the procurement of information; usually sensitive information that can be used for corporate sabotage. As such, Sanbourne’s account is by far the largest and the most active as, apart from the sums of investment capital constantly circulated through the account, large sums of money are usually credited as payment for every successful heist. Sanbourne is the closest to Logan’s normal appearance, with the exception of bleached-blond hair and blue eyes, and with a very formal wardrobe. Logan plays the typical young rich playboy when in the role of Michael Sanbourne, and of all his aliases, Logan enjoys playing this particular role the most.

A con-artist and a thief, Logan often uses his charm to get his way. Skilled in all things thievery, he gets by everyday by picking pockets and accepting contract heists. Many of his one-night-stands would also attest to his thievery, usually finding him gone in the middle of the night, along with whatever cash they might have had in their purses. A charmer in his own right, he would often successfully talk himself out of trouble, especially when he’s caught red-handed. But if all else fails, he usually takes the next easy option: Run.

He is outspoken, and never backs down from a challenge. His sense of humor can sometimes be annoying, as he often has a quip for almost any situation. It could be said that Logan is an addict of sorts, as he has the inherent need to pull off the impossible, just so he can prove to himself that he is capable of practically anything. This “addiction” extends to his self-destructive love of liquor and women, and while there had been a brief interlude in his philandering ways, it seems as though a leopard can never change his spots no matter how hard he tries.

Since becoming a vampire, Logan has been in awe of his own abilities, and often finds ways to push himself to the limit. However the novelty of his abilities (amongst other things) is fast wearing out, and boredom has only recently begun setting in.

What this means for Logan is not yet known at present time.

Los Angeles, California, 1979:
Logan had been born an orphan, having lost his father 5 months before he was born, and his mother at childbirth. With no relatives to care for him, he was placed in foster care (where they named him Logan, after his father), and subsequently found himself adopted by a young couple who had trouble conceiving a child of their own. But when they finally had a child of their own, Logan ended up neglected, and even abused on some occasion. Though he felt no physical pain due to his congenital analgia, the experience nonetheless scarred his fragile young psyche.

As a result Logan grew to become a troubled teen, falling into the wrong crowd and ending up on the wrong side of the law more times than a 14 year old should. Having run away from home by the time he was 15, Logan soon became the skilled pickpocket, out of necessity. It was by chance that Logan had tried to pick the pocket of Jonas Kaine, then-patriarch of a syndicate of con artists, and seeing potential in the young man, Kaine took him in as one of his own.

Mentored by Kaine, Logan was taught the ways of the syndicate, and came into his own as a con artist by the time he was 18.

Running scams and working commissioned heists together, the syndicate became more of a family than his own adopted parents ever were.

After the death of his mentor, the syndicate was embroiled in a power struggle, the elders of the family quarrelled amongst themselves trying to seize control of the syndicate. Logan, 22 by now, would have none of it, and he left the syndicate to make it on his own.

New York, New York, 2001:
For years Logan became an independent contract thief, working on assignments for collectors of antiquities. These usually involved him working heists in museums or high security storage facilities. And because of his inability to feel pain, he made a name for himself for getting a job done even at the risk of his own life. Making a tidy sum from the various assignments, he continued this line of work more for the exhiliration that came from pulling off a successful heist than for the money.

Sometime after his 27th birthday, after a botched con landed him in hospital with a concussion, he was diagnosed as having a malignant brain tumour. The doctors told him he had 6 months to live, a year if he was lucky.

But rather than being hampered by the news, it drove him to more dangerous assignments, turning down heists he deemed too simple for his abilities. So it was no surprise that it had only been a matter of time before his passion would land him in trouble. Assigned a high-profile job, Logan was made to work with former members of his syndicate. The animosity between all of them had obviously remained unresolved over the years, and their disagreements ultimately cost them the assignment, as well as the life of an innocent.

Logan was framed for the murder, and the conspirator turned out to be one of his “brothers”; a vengeful member of the syndicate. Arrested and subsequently incarcerated, Logan was sentenced to spend the remaining months he had in prison.

Breaking out of prison just days after his sentencing, Logan set out to avenge and exonerate himself by bringing in the true culprit. Having learned the identity of the murderer, Logan hunted him down, beating him half to death, but rather than allowing Logan to regain his freedom through exoneration, the murderer killed himself with a single shot to the head.

And just what were the chances of Logan being caught by the police with blood on his hands?

Pretty big actually.

Logan barely outran the authorities, and his escape triggered a massive manhunt. Running from state to state ever since,

Logan finally came upon Ravenblack City, where no one knew nor cared that he was a fugitive on the run.

Or so it seemed.
