These requirements are mostly OUT OF CHARACTER (OOC), but they also pertain to what is expected of your character. They are essential to my own personal expectations from the player behind the character who wishes to be sired under Logan.

And do note that this has been written in a “Siring For Dummies” format, so there should be no excuse of “Oh, I didn’t know I needed to do that!”

1. Leave Drama Out The Door: If there’s anything more that I hate in the world, it’s petty squabbles and drama. If you love drama (causing it, jumping into it, whatever) then you will not be considered to be a part of the family, or at least under Logan’s chain of command.

Any character sired under Logan who cause any sort of drama for the hell of it will most likely be severed at the drop of a hat. It’s one thing to have a dramatic story behind the character, it’s a whole other thing to shit-stir.

2. Crossing: Just like I hate drama, I hate crossers just as much. Learn to differentiate between IC and OOC, or be prepared to leave.

3. Activity: The Sanguine Ankh are no slackers. Whether it’s making an effort to move IG accounts every day/week or roleplay on the forums or interacting with family members on Yahoo Messenger/The Sanguine Ankh board, activity is an absolutely essential trait to have in both the character AND the player behind the character. There is no excuse for non-activity of any kind, unless the player is unable to access the internet due to a massive technological blackout or a sudden teleportation to the jungles of Africa.

While I completely understand that life tends to get in the way of things, I expect to be notified whenever you have to disappear for any considerable length of time (e.g. a week, a month, etc).

Once your character is sired, you are expected to power up your IG account with 3 powers within a grace period of 3 months, and the Blood Pints (BP) of said account must, at the very least, increase by 50 each week. This isn’t entirely impossible, and would require the user of the account to log in once every few days or even once a week. If for any reason this cannot be achieved, the player behind the character is expected to notify me beforehand.

If your character has been sired but somehow ends up deleted due to inactivity, then your character will be classified as dead and buried, and you will not be given a second chance.

If any help is required in this particular requirement, then the player behind the character is expected to consult either myself or the player behind Elisha (the head of the Sanguine Ankh).

So in summary, if you disappear for a period of time without prior notice, you had better be dead or crippled to the point where you can’t type or click a mouse.

4. Alt Accounts: I have a personal dislike for alts, particularly because of (a) possible inactivity/neglect of the character in the Sanguine Ankh, (b) possible crossing between characters, and (c) possible spying for other families/bloodlines/clans. The character wishing to be sired into the Sanguine Ankh must be your main character, the one character that you will put most effort into, because as mentioned in the previous requirement, we are no slackers.

I personally expect to see your character evolve and flourish within the Ankh, and in order for that to happen, I believe that you either need to concentrate on one character or be one hell of a prioritized person.

It’s fully understandable that you may have writer’s block with a particular character, but you are expected to let me or someone within the Ankh know that you’re struggling. We can help you.

With that said, if I happen to notice that you’ve put emphasis on another character (one outside the family) for a considerable length of time without prior notification, then you can expect your Ankh character to be severed due to inactivity.

5. House Rules: Once sired, your character is expected to adhere to the house rules as laid out by Elisha. If any of these house rules are broken, then you can fully expect your character to suffer the consequences, whatever they may be.

6. Loyalty: Last but not least, both you and your character are expected to be loyal to the Sanguine Ankh family, because regardless of IC or OOC, we ARE a family. If you betray any one of us, you betray all of us, and you do not deserve to be in our Circle of Trust, and ergo, our family.

Keep in mind that these requirements are my own personal expectations of anyone wishing to be sired under my character. While these requirements may seem strict, the significance and benefits of being in the Sanguine Ankh family far outweigh everything that is required of you.

Logan rode into Ravenblack on this particular chopper, having evaded the authorities in multiple states on this trusty steel steed. Stolen and used in a con job as a getaway vehicle, the T-Rex Softail has been in Logan’s possession for a considerable number of years. Although it has seen little action recently, it is still one of Logan’s prized possessions, and oft times he can be seen in the Ankh’s garage cleaning and maintaining it, or taking it for a spin on the Ankh’s grounds.

FERRARI 550 BARCHETTA PININFARINA The first-ever car purchased since his arrival in Ravenblack City, the Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina was used mostly in his Michael Sanbourne identity, the rich entrepreneur playboy. A boredom-relieving instrument, Logan has taken this luxurious vehicle out and about in the city a fair number of times, but having acquired a new car, he has since lost interest in the Ferrari. This ridiculously expensive car is currently parked safely in the Ankh’s garage.

TRIUMPH DAYTONA 675 Primarily used as a getaway vehicle for local heists, this sports bike has been modified for additional speed. Fitted with a nitrous kit, this already powerful superbike has been transformed into a literal crotch-rocket, and is in fact one of Logan’s favorite instruments for a quick adrenaline rush.

AUDI A5 A recent acquisition, the Audi A5 has replaced Logan’s Ferrari as the choice mode of transportation. The A5 is the only vehicle in Logan’s collection that has been extensively modified to include bulletproof and anti-UV glass, ballistic protection armor plating, and concealed weapons caches in the car’s interior. The one thing that disqualifies the A5 from being a vehicle right out of a James Bond movie is the absence of an onboard computer that allows the driver to operate the vehicle by remote control. And it’s only because Logan hasn’t been able to figure out how to incorporate such sophisticated technology into the vehicle.

Jailhouse Rock (Intermediate)
A collection of different fighting styles, Jailhouse Rock or JHR is said to have been practiced and/or developed within US penal institutions and innercity black neighbourhoods. Being a former convict, Jonas Kaine learned this unique martial arts in his youth, most of which was spent inside a federal penitentiary. Having taken Logan under his wing, Kaine imparted his knowledge of JHR to the young man (along with many others he had taken under his wing) and trained him in the art of close combat for years, up till his death. Logan usually utilises JHR with his preferred boxing, when close quarters make taking down his opponent with a haymaker too difficult to execute.

Capoeira (Basic)
Apart from Kaine, there was one other person that Logan trusted enough to be taught by; the man who would eventually frame him for murder. Initially a friend and part of Kaine’s Brethren, “Rodrigo” as he called himself, taught a young Logan the fundamentals of the art, emphasising the fact that it would hone Logan’s flexibility and coordination, traits that were necessary for their chosen profession as thieves. Logan had never managed to master Capoeria fully, at least not enough to be considered combat-ready. He can be seen practising the ginga every now and then, but usually out of sight from prying eyes.

As a thief, Logan was required to be more perceptive of his surroundings than others would normally be, in order for him to determine the various points of entry and escape as a tactical precaution and to detect the presence of anyone who may discover him while he is on a job. With the preternatural enhancement of his five senses (Perception) Logan is now able to detect the presence of others from a considerable distance away, giving him ample time to make himself scarce should the need arise. The Second-Sight ability he acquired also allows him to gauge the likely strength of others, and in the case of fellow Vampires, lineage as well. How this particular ability manifests itself remains unknown.

Enhanced Strength

As a human, Logan was able to benchpress just a little over his own weight (290 lbs), but ever since becoming a vampire, his musculoskeletal structure has been enhanced to the point that, since becoming fully powered, Logan has been able to carry approximately four times his own weight (820 lbs). As he continues to explore his potential and grow into his vampiric form, he will gradually be able to lift heavier weights with relative ease.

Enhanced Speed

Logan had committed himself to a gruelling training regime as a human, and had spent years working on the physical requirements that are necessary for his profession. One of those requirements is speed, which is necessary should he be discovered while on a job and has to flee on foot. As a human his running speed was just above average, but since becoming fully powered, he has been known to reach a top speed of 2.35 secs for a 100m sprint. As he grows into his vampire form he will no doubt achieve faster speeds.

Enhanced Agility

Also attributed to years of physical training, Logan’s agility had been at the peak of human conditioning, but the change in his musculoskeletal structure brought about by his Siring has enhanced this ability to near-superhuman level. When combined with either strength or speed or even his heightened sense of awareness, Logan can achieve feats normally deemed impossible for humans, such as leaping great heights or distances, or avoiding most oncoming danger using his preternatural reflexes.

Enhanced Dexterity

Being a thief and a con artist, Logan was already more dexterous than the average human before his Siring, but as a vampire with Thievery 3, the trait has turned Logan into an even more skilled thief, as enhanced eye-hand coordination makes feats like pickpocketing, lockpicking and sleight-of-hand almost effortless.

Ambidexterity

Logan was originally left handed, but as he encountered more complicated heists he was forced to learn to be ambidextrous. As a result Logan is proficient with both hands, and this aids him greatly in a lot of his heists. Handling most work tools with his right hand, Logan normally writes and draws with his left, but has no problem using either hands. This ability also shows in his handling of weapons and in combat, but rarely is he seen wielding two weapons at the same time, as he prefers to keep this ability a secret.

Subterfuge / Stealth

In his profession, it is imperative that Logan makes his presence as unnoticed as possible while on a job, and to make himself scarce if he is about to discovered. Having trained and perfected the art for years, Logan’s skill of subterfuge is impressive to say the least, but with the acquiring of Shadows 3, his stealth ability has improved beyond what he could have ever imagined.

*Shredders

Logan has the ability to form more than a pair of fangs. When in the throes of bloodlust Logan is able to extend his lateral incisors and canines for a more vicious and lethal bite. This trait enables Logan to either tear a victim’s flesh or drain them faster and gain more blood with a single bite, and was passed down through Elisha upon his Siring.

Charisma

As a human con artist, Logan had been very persuasive and charismatic when he needed to be. However, since his Siring and becoming fully-powered, his skills at charm and persuasion has improved significantly, and he finds it easier to beguile others into his bidding or one of his cons through simple conversation.

Durability

Thanks to his medical condition (congenital analgia), Logan feels no pain and is unhindered by the sensation of pain that would normally have an adverse effect on an individual. He is able to withstand the most brutal amount of damage, and nothing short of being rendered unconscious from a concussive blow to the head or severe blood loss or death can slow him down or stop him when he is in a physical confrontation. The rate of regeneration also contributes to how much damage he is able to sustain before his body completely gives out from sheer blood loss if he is unable to regenerate damaged tissue fast enough.

Telepathy

Telepathy is perhaps the only ability that Logan has yet to get used to. While he is comfortable with having achieved other more physical feats, this particular ability unnerves Logan as he believes that it is the only ability that distances himself from being ‘human’; ironic perhaps considering Logan is no longer human, but he wants nothing else than to hold onto what is left of his humanity. As such, Logan rarely uses this ability, and can be seen particularly perturbed whenever someone forces him to receive a telepathic message.

Technical Knowledge

Logan is quite the handyman, adept at most things technical and technological. A regular ‘MacGyver’, he is usually able to make something out of nothing given the right tools. As for technological skills, Logan knows enough to bypass most security features, but is limited to the intermediate skill level.

James Vanderbilt
An antiquities dealer based in Los Angeles. Most transactions involving antiquities and rare collectibles are often done through this alias. When in this alias, Logan appears as a large nosed, moustached middle-aged man with gun-metal gray hair, and speaks with a Southern accent. Vanderbilt’s attire is eclectic to say the least, usually wearing floral shirts and slacks, with flip flops. Vanderbilt is the front for Logan’s antiquities dealings, and whenever someone has a job that involves the heist of rare antiquities, Vanderbilt is the point of contact, whether by phone or a face-to-face meeting.

Logan fabricates a relationship between Vanderbilt and himself as that of an employer-employee relationship, with Vanderbilt paying Logan for services rendered on certain jobs, and this reflects in their bank statements/transactions.

Michael Sanbourne
Michael Sanbourne is a “self-made entrepreneur”, with businesses dealing in investments in commodities, futures, and foreign exchange. But Sanbourne also deals in the procurement of information; usually sensitive information that can be used for corporate sabotage. As such, Sanbourne’s account is by far the largest and the most active as, apart from the sums of investment capital constantly circulated through the account, large sums of money are usually credited as payment for every successful heist. Sanbourne is the closest to Logan’s normal appearance, with the exception of bleached-blond hair and blue eyes, and with a very formal wardrobe. Logan plays the typical young rich playboy when in the role of Michael Sanbourne, and of all his aliases, Logan enjoys playing this particular role the most.

The only exception to his “lone-wolf” demeanour was while he was with his mentor, who taught him the necessary skills to excel in his craft. Even though he had a close bond with his mentor, the real reason Logan allowed a little room for trust was so he could be taught the skills that he felt would one day be beneficial to him. The death of his mentor impeded any progress Logan might have made with regards to being healed emotionally, as he found himself lost once more without anyone to trust and confide in.

His thought process is mostly usually selfish in nature, having been taught indirectly that no one will love him except himself, this of course attributed to his childhood yet again.

However, Logan has been known to show a more positive personality at times, the bitterness he feels towards people can sometimes be coaxed away to reveal his more playful nature, yet this proves to be a task in itself, as he rarely lets anyone get close enough to break down the walls he puts up and reveal the lost child behind the deceptively charming smile.

It is interesting to note that Logan seems to have a ‘Superman complex’ because of his congenital analgia. Unable to feel pain, he often equates this as being invincible, and because he has yet to find an anchor that can help him validate his existence, he is constantly putting his body on the line, seeking thrills and situations that most people would find absurdly dangerous and life-threatening.

Logan’s semi-fractured psyche has resulted in the development of what one could consider a “dark side”. While not an entirely unique personality on its own (as often documented in cases of multiple personality disorders), this “dark side” is a manifestation of his Id. It is theorized that years of abuse endured during the formative childhood years have caused Logan’s subconscious to form this “dark side”, which is in essence a self-preservation instinct.

According to Sigmund Freud’s structural model of the psyche, the Id is unconscious by definition, and is defined by the following formulation:

“It is the dark, inaccessible part of our personality, what little we know of it we have learnt from our study of the dream-work and of the construction of neurotic symptoms, and most of this is of a negative character and can be described only as a contrast to the ego. We all approach the id with analogies: we call it a chaos, a cauldron full of seething excitations… It is filled with energy reaching it from the instincts, but it has no organization, produces no collective will, but only astriving to bring about the satisfaction of the instinctual needs subject to the oberservance of the pleasure principle.”

This “dark side” triggers a more primal consciousness within Logan, allowing him to achieve feats he would never have been able to accomplish consciously. In this particular state of mind, Logan’s consciousness may be geared toward satisfying basic physiological needs. Whether these needs happen to be essential for survival or even sating a sexual desire, when in the throes of this “dark side”, Logan cares very little about the consequences of his actions or any sense of morality, and is only concerned about sating his own needs first and foremost.

Prior to his Siring, Logan had also been suffering from an incurable malignant tumour in his brain which was slowly killing him. But because of his inability to feel physical pain, he did not experience the migraines normally suffered by brain cancer patients. He had however blacked out and experienced nosebleeds on ocassion, more frequently so as the terminal disease worsened over time. But ever since being sired, the tumour seems to have been purged from his system, the vampiric blood apparently having healed him of this condition.

There is the question of why the blood had not cured him from his congenital analgia though, perhaps the blood simply could not heal a genetic flaw that had existed since birth?

As a result of all his afflictions, Logan has no real fear, for he knows not pain, and if one cannot feel the pain of death what is there left to fear?
